Mirkology Vol. 1

With the T.D Big Band

Biography:

What do you get out of a composition student and a young crooner craving to share music to the modern world?

Mirkology Vol.1 - With the T.D. Big Band. This project started with two young students nourishing the jazz swing music from the 30’/40’. Being in a university full of talented musicians and people wanting to go to the roots where all of the modern jazz started, it’s a road that leads you to this project… A Big Band like no other!

Mirko Jaws (Vocalist) and Thomas Dijkstra (Arranger & Conductor) had the idea and determination of creating a culture among seventeen musicians to embrace where we come from, putting the music ahead of us and a titanic determination to have lots of fun and bonding with people of diverse nationalities and ages.

The EP soon to be released in all platforms consists of 6 tunes embracing the old fashion ways that we believe now a days is being slowly lost, with tunes such as Anything Goes, I’ve Got To Be Me, You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To. All very famous tunes that have been played in the past by our favorite crooners (and huge inspiration for Mirko) such as Tony Bennet, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra.

The band consists of the Argentinian/Croatian Mirko Jaws as the vocalist with a warm baritone voice: Thomas Dijkstra (Netherlands) conducting and making all the arrangements the band: in the rhythm section we have the talented piano player form Indonesia Kasyfi Kalyasyena, in the drums keeping the big band tight on time we have the Belgian Gabriel Noerens and in the Double Bass connecting the rythmical world with the melodic one we haveVishal Signh Rebari native from India. Among the saxophones we have playing alto we have Kevin Nguyen (Germany) and Guy Altmann (Israel); playing tenor saxophones we have Ionut Focsa (Romania) and Robin Bolders (Belgium) and on Baritone Saxophone Max Van Houtum (Netherlands); on trombones we have Matjaz Kafol (Slovenia), Hugrun Elfa (Island), Can Ozturk (Cyprus) and on bass trombone Gustaaf Hoedman (Netherlands); last but not least, we have on the trumpet section Giancarlo Morbeck (Netherlands), Jonas Nieujaers (Belgium), Simon Beets (Netherlands) and Pedro Cherino Hidalgo (Spain).
